10 things you didn’t know about pop music

1)      Madonna is insanely terrified of lightening, a fear known as brontophobia. Brontophobia is an irregular fear of thunder even though the sufferer knows that no harm can come to them.  This can cause excessive behaviour during a thunderstorm.

2)      Bjorn Again, the ABBA tribute band has actually been going for longer and toured more places than the original pop music artists themselves. Bjorn Again were formed in 1988 in Australia and has done over 3500 performances in 52 countries

3)      Justin Bieber is left handed. The newest member of the pop artist family joins 8-15% of the worlds population in having a preference to write left handed. When learning to play guitar, he kept changing round his mum’s right handed guitar until she bought him a special leftie guitar for his birthday.

4)      Michael Jackson owned a variety of exotic animals and whilst everyone is familiar with Bubbles the chimp not everyone knows that he also once owned a boa constrictor called Muscles. Boa Constrictors can reach up to 4 meters long and can weigh up to 27kg.

5)      Beyonce has won 16 Grammy awards, 3 as a member of Destiny’s Child and a massive 13 awards as a solo artist.  Having sold in excess of 75 million records world wide, she is also one of the best selling pop music artists ever.

6)      After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Justin Timberlake auctioned a snowboarding session with himself to raise money for the victims. This act of charity raised $30,000 and was won by his old band mate Lance Bass from NSYNC.

7)      Britney Spears collects Princess Diana memorabilia, this may be a nod to her British ancestry on her maternal grandmothers side who was from London.

8)      Star Search as an American talent show which ran from 1983 to 1995 with a short re-launch in 2002 – 2004.  Contestants audition and the acts were judged y a panel of judges.  This show launched the career of Tiffany but failed to recognise the talent of Christina Aguilera who lost out on the show.
