British pop music is synonymous with the UK charts and the Official Charts Company has been recording who has sold what singles as a list of the top 200 sold for many years.

The UK charts is the home of the UK’s music charts and dates back to 1952. There’s three different top 40 charts, one for the Singles, another for Albums and one for Compilations, the chart is updated every Sunday at 7pm.
It was in 1952 when the charts kicked off, the first number 1 was “Here in My Heart” by Al Martino, the charts were first published by the Musical Express, and process was that the joint founder of Musical Express, Percy Dickins rang around a number of record stores. [Read more...]
